Bye Bye Duality!

According to most ancient wisdom traditions, the Mayan Calendar, the Native American Prophensies, and many of our trusted psychic and spiritual teachers, we are entering a New Age. We’ve been expecting it for some time, but it is finally happening. The Great Transformation is upon us. So what’s it all about?

It’s about Balance and Peace. That seems relatively well-accepted by everybody. But both of these words have an inherent assumption about them. What are we balancing? What is in conflict and therefore calling for Peace? Duality. Duality is the concept that there are two sides to every coin. Dark and Light. Male and Female. Right and Wrong. Duality gives shape and reason to our societal structures, the ones that are supposed to give us safety and comfort, easy roles to fill in our lives, and a sense of order in the Universe.

But wait a minute! All of these separations of duality contradict the Universal Truth that We are All One. Uh-Oh! Spirit is a great one-ness, indivisible and without limitation. So how does Duality fit with that one!? We’ve been grappling with this question for a long time, mostly resolving to allow it to be a “mystery.”

Well, our grappling is reaching massive proportions as we see our current organizations, including our governments, our educational systems, and our “traditional” family units dissolve in the oncoming wave of the New Age. With the new energies of honesty, holistic living, and open spirituality, Duality doesn’t seem to fit anymore. All of our lines are being crossed, our definitions are softening, and our hearts are opening to many different Truths coexisting. And so far, this natural and exciting energetic change hasn’t killed us. In fact, the more we remain open to these changes, the more we flourish and grow. We grow, even as we witness those who hold tight to the duality-based teachings of the past fight each other, lose power, be revealed, and finally fall from authority.

What’s so bad about Duality, anyway? Well, it seems like there’s nothing much wrong with Duality if both sides of the coin are equally valued. But that’s not how it’s gone in the past. It’s not hard to notice that in general in our society, Dark is bad; Light is Good. Death is bad; Birth is good. Old is Bad; Young is Good. Feminine is Bad; Masculine is Good. Psychic stuff is bad; Scientific stuff is good. Poor is Bad; Rich is Good. Street-smarts is bad; Academic education is Good. You get the point. But the real wise people, the ones who’ve lived long enough to Know, they look at all of the above, shake their heads, and laugh out loud. Heck, even the kids look at all that and shake their heads. It’s getting to the point that we are embarrassed of even the unconscious parts of ourselves that still believe this nonsense. That’s how we know we’re outgrowing Duality.

So what’s the option? Live and let live? Total chaos? Mass murder is Okeedokie now that we don’t have Duality?! No, Silly. The reason we’re outgrowing Duality is because we’re awakening the deeper wisdom of the Heart. That’s where people listen to their hearts, and can discern their own personal Truth, while acknowledging and respecting the fact that other people’s Truths are likely DIFFERENT than theirs – and that’s OK! The Wisdom of the Heart that is coming into us, and into our world, abides by Discernment instead of Judgement. Judgement makes something Wrong. Discernment, on the other hand, indicates when something is Wrong for Me right now. And when people are all in touch with Discernment, they make good agreements together, that guide their interactions together. Sounds kinda civilized, huh?
